El Paso hangs tough

October 10, 2008 | Texas, states | Comments (0)

El Paso, Texas is strangely unaffected by the current financial crisis, at least as far as lending is concerned.  From the story:

Norma Drinkwin, vice president of marketing for the El Paso Area Teachers Federal Credit Union, said credit is not a problem for individuals in El Paso because of the huge number of credit unions and the membership. It is reported that 50 percent of El Paso adults belong to a credit union.

“We are making signature loans, car loans, mortgage loans and every other type of loan right now,” Drinkwin said. “It continues to be business as usual.”

God bless, Texas.
