Someone whispered in the Payday Pundit’s ear that Rep. Gutierrez will hold a subcomittee markup of his bill sometime in mid-June.   This does not mean it’s going to pass, only that Rep. Gutierrez is serious about pushing it.

The bill is a compromise bill, which makes it dangerous because it makes sense politically to strike some balance between the two sides of the debate. Unfortunately, what is politically expedient will not make either side all that happy (as we’ve already seen by the debates). I think it has a good chance to pass the house, though the Senate will likely be more of a challenge.
