Ohio opponents working hard

October 8, 2008 | Ohio, states | Comments (2)

They’ve recruited two former state Attorneys General to their cause:

Former Ohio attorneys general Betty Montgomery and Jim Petro and this year’s candidates for attorney general Mike Crites and Richard Cordray will explain Wednesday why they support the Vote Yes on Issue 5 campaign and why the payday lenders’ latest advertisements mislead voters.

A yes vote will keep Ohio’s payday lending reform law in place and lower the annual interest on payday loans to 28 percent – that’s down from 391 percent typically charged under the old law.

The four will speak at 10 a.m. Wednesday at AARP, 17 S. High St., 8th Floor Conference Room, Columbus.
