Speaking of sluggish local economies

October 1, 2008 | California, media coverage, states | Comments (0)

Centeral California is hurting, but this smart consumer got helped by a payday loan company:

Cynthia Anderson lives in Santa Maria and went to the Cash Advance on Broadway.  She was charged $25 to borrow $150.

But Anderson says the loan is a one-time thing and she only stopped by because “I don’t get paid until Thursday and I have a bill due today.”

She plans to pay back the loan on time and in full.

Plus, if she wrote a check from her bank account, it would bounce and she says the overdraft fees would end up costing her $35, more than the extra $25 she’ll end up paying to Cash Advance.
