In the comments section below a pro-payday loan piece in the Sandusky Register (requires a subscription to read full article) one reader had this to say:

” I know firsthand what a Godsend these places can be in an emergency. Yes, I had to pay a fee but I knew exactly how much it was before I signed anything. They don’t try to hide anything. Because some people are irresponsible in what they borrow, we should shut them all down? Ok, let’s shut down every place that sells alcohol (you know some people just drink way too much)no more lottery tickets (with those odds? people are wasting their hard earned money))no more bingo for Grandma(she spends way too much on those instants)and let’s not forget all the restaurants & grocery stores (the food addicts need our help!)C’mon people! We can’t let adults be responsible for their own actions. It would be chaos! “
