STATEHOUSE RALLY TO SAVE PAYDAY LENDING JOBS
Leaders of Ohio’s payday loan industry, along with hundreds of employees and customers, will hold a rally on Tuesday, May 6 at the state capitol.
They will call on Senators to reject House legislation which caps the annual interest rates on payday loans at 28% — eliminating the industry in More than 6,000 jobs are at stake.
Industry representatives and its supporters will explain the impact of House-passed legislation on workers, the economy and on working families in Ohio.

Yes, many people will lose their jobs if this authoritarian legislation is approved, but I think it’s more important to protest that some people may lose their lives! Imagine a father who cashes his check on the last day of the month and is mugged. He then can’t pay the rent and not being able to get a payday loan his family is evicted in the dead of winter. His child gets pneumonia and dies. Do Governor Strickland and the legislators who support this bill really want that on their conscience?
I have no Family or Friends that I can turn to when I need money…. WHere am I supposed to turn to when I need it???? I work for a payday advance and I also loan when an emergency strikes… THe Government is going to pay my bills when I have no job or anyone to turn to?RIGHT!??
ted strickland and any other persons opposed to payday loan practices apparently do not live in a real world.i do. i am a student,a mother of four young children, and these loan places really help our family trmenously. prices keep climbing and our wages seem to stay the same.maybe someone should wake up to the real reality of what is really the truth,and not some political dream.keep in mind,without the people that you are in the process of hurting giving you a vote to stay in your comfy office,you may not be re-elected so soon. when you dont care about the people who put you in that office,(once you are there)then what makes you think that those people want you to stay there?
