Fox Valley pawnbrokers say whether it’s an economy that’s driving bargain hunts or the success of the History Channel reality program, they’re seeing an uptick in attention.
Bob Cihak of Neenah strolled through Grand Chute’s Pawn America store for the first time on Monday and swiped up a few CDs, but enjoyed just looking around.
“It’s like a big rummage sale,” he said.
The oft-maligned pawn industry gained a reputation boost of late as the “Pawn Stars” TV program continually maintains high ratings. The show, set at Las Vegas’ family-owned Gold and Silver Pawn Shop, dually follows the comical interactions of the Harrison family and the unique and often historical wares that make their way to the store counters.
