Big day

April 22, 2010 | federal legislation, industry | Comments (2)

Remember, the Senate leaders are negotiating over the big issues to make a deal on financial reform, not payday lending.   We will, however, be affected by the decisions they make about the structure and oversight of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.  And yes, it’s doubtful that this proposed regulatory body is coming out of the bill.

And if the big agreement is reached this week, a floor fight over amendments take place next week.

Sorry, but when you say “it’s doubtful that this proposed regulatory body is coming out of the bill.” do you mean it’s doubtful that it will get stripped out of the bill? You think the bill is likely to pass with CFPA in there in one form or another?

yes, it will not be stripped from the bill. A consumer bureau is inevitable.
