From the Hartford Current:

Consumer advocates hailed U.S. Sen. Christopher Dodd’s decision to stay at the helm of the Banking Committee.

“We’re ecstatic,” said Jim Campen, executive director of Americans for Fairness in Lending, a Boston-based consumer advocacy group.

When you get “ecstatic” about the status quo, it’s time to get a life.

There’s something very undemocratic going on when laws that affect the lives of millions of Americans are determined by a game of roulette in which this or that senator lands in a Committee Chairman position.

Freedom of commerce, or the right of citizens to freely engage in mutually agreeable economic transactions where no deception or dangerous goods are involved, should not be subject to infringement by any politician in any position.
