Roy city restrictions
August 12, 2009 | industry | Comments (0)From the story:
The council recently and unanimously passed an ordinance limiting payday lenders in the city to eight. The limit is based on the ratio of one payday lender for every 5,000 residents.
The ordinance further states that payday lenders — as well as pawn shops — will be allowed only in regional commercial zones, which are not in close proximity to single-family residential areas, such as along 1900 West.
They will not be allowed in community commercial zones, which are in close proximity to single-family dwellings, such as along 3500 West.
Currently, there are five payday lenders or pawn shops in regional commercial zones and two in community commercial zones.
The city will allow only one more payday lending business within its boundaries.
