Bad journalism of the day award goes to…

August 6, 2008 | Capital Times, Wisconsin, customers, industry, local issues, media coverage, states | Comments (0)

Dave Zweifel and the Capital Times (Wisconsin)  for this column.     We informed Mr. Zweifel months ago that his notion that payday lenders target the elderly was based on an erronous Wall Street Journal story which we dubunked in this post.   Essentially, the WSJ confused installment and catalog lenders with payday lenders.  In fact, a congressional hearing a few months ago confirmed that payday lenders aren’t engaged in this practice.

Mr. Zweifel doesn’t care.   He’s been railing against business and capitalism for a few decades now and has never let facts get in the way of a good rant.

(The paper accepts comments so click on the link above, go to the bottom of the story, and let Mr. Zweifel know how you feel.)
