In a column on a payday lending ban published in The People’s Defender, Ohio Senator Tom Niehaus writes,

“It will punish the responsible for the actions of the irresponsible. If we applied this logic to driving, no one would be permitted to drive.”He says he is ”hopeful we will be able to find a way to keep this option for those who use payday lending responsibly, but create safeguards for those who might otherwise abuse this ready access to cash.”
